For Trump and Bush, Future Is Now
Donald Trump has a tax plan, and like most Republicans, he wants to simplify the tax code and lower the tax rates. Our weekly Trump Change survey has seen a steady decline in support for the billionaire developer over the past three weeks, in particular since the last GOP debate, as voters began to wonder whether there is any substance behind the bluster. Now there is.
Jeb Bush, on the other hand, is all about substance. For months now, he’s been citing his accomplishments as governor of Florida and outlining various policy plans, including downsizing the federal government and changing the tax code. But so far voters haven’t found any energy there, much less bluster, and our surveys reflect this – showing Bush going from leader of the pack to also-ran over the summer months. News reports this week suggest his campaign is close to going on life support unless he turns this around.
Is Trump coming back? Will Bush rebound? Or is the race for the Republican presidential nomination about to go where no man or woman has gone before – at least this election cycle?
For Rasmussen Reports, I’m Fran Coombs.
