National Survey of 1,000 Likely Voters
Conducted October 4-5, 2011

By Rasmussen Reports

1* Do most politicians keep their campaign promises?

2* When politicians break campaign promises, is it usually because they deliberately made a false promise to get elected or because of unforeseen events after they took office?

[Please note that we split the survey to rotate the order of the candidate names, so while half will hear “Always vote for a Democrat” first, the other half hears “Always vote for a Republican” mentioned first.]

3* When general elections are held, do you always vote for a Democrat, usually vote for a Democrat, vote for an equal number of Republicans and Democrats, usually vote for a Republican, or always vote for a Republican?

4* Suppose you had a choice between two candidates for Congress, one who would work to cut federal government spending and one who worked to make sure your district gets a fair share of all federal spending. For whom would you vote?

NOTE: Margin of Sampling Error, +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence
