National Survey of 1,000 Likely Voters
Conducted May 30-31, 2012
By Rasmussen Reports

1* Generally speaking, are American elections fair to voters?

2* Does the current election system discourage third party challenges?

3* Who should pay for the primary elections used to select Republican and Democratic candidates for office - the government or the political parties?

4* In many states, nominees of the Republican and Democratic parties automatically get on the ballot. However, third party candidates often need to conduct petition drives and get thousands of signatures to get on the ballot. If third party candidates need to submit signatures to get on the ballot, should Republicans and Democrats have to do the same?

5* Suppose a political party wanted to make its position clear on an issue like repeal of the health care law. Should a political party be allowed to require that all of its candidates support that position if they want the party's nomination?

NOTE: Margin of Sampling Error, +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence
