The North Dakota gubernatorial race continues to be a runaway. The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in the state finds Republican Governor John Hoeven leading challenger Tim Mathern 68% to 28%.
Last month, the incumbent led 66% to 26%.
Hoeven leads 69% to 28% among men in the Peace Garden State, while leading 66% to 29% among women. He also leads 69% to 25% among unaffiliated voters and earns support from 36% of Democrats.
The governor gets good or excellent marks for his job performance from 73% of voters, making him one of the most popular governors in the country. Just six percent (6%) say he is doing a poor job as governor. He is viewed favorably by 78% of voters and unfavorably by 18%.
Mathern’s ratings are 43% favorable, 42% unfavorable.
The latest numbers from North Dakota’s presidential race will be released today at 5 p.m. Eastern.
Rasmussen Reports released five swing state polls on the Presidential race Monday night for Colorado,Florida,Ohio,Pennsylvania and Virginia. Yesterday, the latest numbers for the Montana presidential and Senate races were released. Additional state poll results will be released each Monday at 6:00 p.m. Eastern and Tuesday-Friday at 5:00 p.m. Eastern.

This telephone survey of 500 Likely Voters was conducted by Rasmussen Reports September 8, 2008. The margin of sampling error for the survey is +/- 4.5 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence.
