Spring is officially here! As flowers bloom and Easter emerges, 29% of American adults declared springtime as their favorite season. However, summer sprung ahead of spring as 31% percent named the steamy months of summer as their favorite season. A quarter (25%) say fall is tops while winter is the top season for just 7%. Twenty-five percent (25%) of adults say they will take a spring vacation this year, compared to 64% who won’t go away. A separate Rasmussen Reports survey conducted in December showed that only 12% preferred a winter vacation. That survey found summer was the preferred vacation season. As the warmer weather arrives, Americans are prone to pursue various indoor or outdoor activities. Two-out-of three (67%) Americans say they will clean and organize their home this spring. Just 19% won’t scrub or rearrange their residence. Most (61%) Americans will also garden this spring. A third (32%) say they won’t plant any flowers or shrubs for the season. A significant age gap among men occurs for this particular hobby. Sixty-eight percent (68%) of men over 40 say they will garden this spring. Only 37% of men under 40 plan on gardening. There is no similar age gap among women. Finally, Americans are split as to whether they will begin a diet or exercise program this spring. Forty-four percent (44%) say they will try to get fit. The same percentage won’t begin a diet or exercise program. More women (48%) plan to exercise this spring than men (39%). Crosstabs available for Premium Members only.
