Support for E-Verify Now at 70%
Most voters want to penalize companies for hiring illegal workers, and support for making the federal electronic E-Verify system mandatory for employers has increased.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 70% of Likely U.S. Voters say that, in trying to control illegal immigration, they would support their state government mandating that all employers use the federal electronic E-Verify system to help ensure that they hire only legal workers for U.S. jobs. That includes 46% who Strongly Support making E-Verify mandatory. Just 21% are opposed to mandating E-Verify. In January, 68% favored making E-Verify mandatory. The survey of 1,081 U.S. Likely Voters was conducted on June 7-9, 2026 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC.
