1* How serious of a problem is it when states deliberately
draw congressional districts to favor one party?
2* The practice of drawing congressional districts to
favor one party is sometimes called “partisan gerrymandering.” Which party is
more likely to engage in partisan gerrymandering, Democrats or Republicans? Or
do both parties engage in partisan gerrymandering about equally?
3* In the 2024 elections, Republicans got 45% of the vote
in Illinois but hold only three of the state’s 17 U.S. House seats, which is
18% of the total. Does this kind of result undermine American democracy?
4* Texas plans to redraw its congressional district map to
create more districts that favor Republicans. Do you approve or disapprove of
the Texas redistricting plan?
