National Survey of 1,000 Likely Voters
Conducted January 31-February 1, 2013
By Rasmussen Reports

1* Do you have a very favorable, somewhat favorable, somewhat unfavorable or very unfavorable impression of Social Security?

2* How confident are you that the Social Security system will pay you all promised retirement benefits during your lifetime?

3* A proposal has been made that would let people select their own Social Security retirement age. Those who wanted to retire earlier would pay more in taxes and those who wanted to pay less in taxes would retire later. So long as they are paying enough to cover the cost of their own decision, should people have the right to pick their own Social Security and Medicare retirement age?

4* If you had a choice would you be most likely to pay more in taxes and begin collecting retirement benefits earlier or would you be most likely to pay less in taxes now and begin collecting benefits later? (Answered only by 832 voters under 65 years old)

5*  Would you be more likely to set aside the tax savings in a private retirement account or would you be more likely to pay current bills with the tax savings? (Answered only by 419 voters who are under 65 years old and would pay less taxes now)
