Just After 9/11 Anniversary, Pluralities Still Say We're Winning War on Terror, Losing War In Iraq

On the fifth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, President Bush delivered a nationally televised address to discuss the war on terror—and to defend the war in Iraq, which he contends is an integral part of the larger conflict. But in a survey of Americans conducted just a few days after the President's speech, Rasmussen Reports finds that his words did little to sway general perceptions of either.

Forty-one percent (41%) say the U.S. and its allies are winning the war on terror, unchanged from our poll conducted just days before the anniversary commemorations and the President's national address. Twenty-nine percent (29%) say the terrorists are winning.
