  • 47% of adults who have finished their holiday shopping consider the holiday season joyous, while 39% consider it stressful. But those who haven’t finished their shopping are evenly divided.

  • 44% of men are having difficulty getting in to the holiday spirit this year, compared to 38% of women.

  • 59% of married adults will send out Christmas cards this year. 46% of unmarried adults will also send out cards to friends and family, but 50% will not.

  • 74% of adults 40 and older believe Christmas should be more about Jesus than Santa Claus. Younger Americans (53%) feel less strongly, with 26% who say the holiday should be more about Santa.

  • 42% of married adults say they’ll host friends and relatives at their home this holiday season, compared to just 24% of unmarrieds. Adults with children under 18 in the home are slightly more likely than those without kids living with them to say they’ll be playing host this year.

  • 95% of Evangelical Christians believe Christmas should be celebrated in schools, as do 87% of Catholics and 79% of other Protestants. Even 57% of adults of other faiths and atheists think schools should allow Christmas celebrations.
