The Rasmussen Minute REVISITED: Hurricane Harvey: The Spirit of America
Hurricane Harvey hammered the Texas Gulf Coast on August 25, 2017, bringing heartbreak and devastation of epic proportions to southeastern Texas. Many homes and communities were destroyed; many lives were upended--and a rising total of lives have been lost.
Still, when Americans see their neighbors in need, they rush to their aid. In Harvey's case, thousands of prepared government officials, federal workers, first responders, citizen volunteers and local residents heroically came together to save countless lives and to provide comfort and security for their fellow Americans in the face of a deadly, historic storm.
President Trump has said that Americans uniting as one, as they've done in Texas to battle Harvey, represents the true spirit of America, "a spirit of love, determination and resolve." That American spirit is the subject of this week's Rasmussen Minute.
