Most Voters Favor Divided Government

Tuesday, November 07, 2006

It has been said that all politics are local. Results of a recent Rasmussen Reports survey on government control reveal that politics are very personal, too. Forty-nine percent (49%) of voters surveyed say it is personally “very important” whether Republicans or Democrats end up with control of Congress after this year’s elections.

While the dominant party is important, a majority of voters (52%) believe it is better to have control of the federal government split between Republicans and Democrats. Thirty percent (30%) disagree, saying that single-party control is a better approach.
