Laura Bush-Theresa Heinz Kerry Favorables

First Lady Laura Bush earned higher favorability ratings than any other speaker at the Republican National Convention. The President's wife is viewed favorably by 67% of American voters and unfavorably by just 20%.

Not even Rudy Giuliani or Arnold Schwarzenegger could reach those numbers (although they came close).

Mrs. Bush is viewed favorably by 91% of Republicans and 67% of unaffiliated voters. Even a plurality of Democrats (46%) have a favorable opinion of her.

Theresa Heinz Kerry is more controversial. Thirty-nine percent (39%) of voters have a favorable opinion of her while 43% hold an unfavorable view.

Among Democrats, 61% have a favorable opinion of Mrs. Kerry. Unaffiliated voters are evenly divided. Just 14% of Republicans have a favorable opinion of Senator Kerry's wife.
