77% Believe the Nation is Heading Down Wrong Track

Just 16% of Likely Voters believe the Unites States is moving in the right direction. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 77% disagree and say the nation is heading down the wrong track. Those sentiments have grown more negative over the past month. In March, 73% of voters felt the nation was heading down the wrong track and 19% thought it was heading in the right direction. Republican voters are much more optimistic than Democratic voters. While 31% of Republicans say the nation is going in the right direction, just 5% of Democrats agree. Ninety-one percent (91%) of Democratic voters believe the nation is heading in the wrong direction; 58% Republicans feel the same. Three out of four voters (75%) say the nation is not better off than it was four years ago. Just 15% disagree and say the nation is better off. Half of voters are unsure about the nation’s future. Looking ahead, 29% say the nation will be better off in four years than it is today, 21% disagree. Fifty-percent (50%) say they are not sure. Voters are more optimistic about their personal lives than the state of the nation. Forty percent (40%) say they are personally better off today than four years ago. Just under half (49%) disagree, while 12% are not sure. When it comes to the future, 39% of Likely Voters say their lives will be better in four years, while just 16% disagree. Another 45% are not sure. Younger voters are much more positive about their future personal lives. Among voters between the ages of 18 and 29, 59% say they will be better off in four years than they are today, while only 18% feel the opposite. Half of voters between the ages of 30 and 39 also feel their personal lives will be better in four years. Half of voters over 50 years old are not sure what the future will bring.
