What Do Republican, Democratic Candidates Think is Middle Class? Americans Chime In.

Americans think Democratic candidates are more likely to include lower-income folks in the middle class than Republicans are. GOP candidates are more likely to view higher-income Americans as middle class.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 48% of American Adults say when a Democratic political candidate describes someone as middle class, they think that person’s yearly household income is between $50,000 and $100,000. Twenty-eight percent (28%) think it’s more like $25,000 to $50,000, while 12% think it’s above $100,000. Only seven percent (7%) feel less than $25,000 is more accurate.
