Montana Governor: Schweitzer On Track to Keep Job

Montana's gubernatorial race may be closer this month, but incumbent Governor Brian Schweitzer still leads his Republican challenger Roy Brown by 15 percentage points. The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in the state finds the Democrat ahead 56% to 41%. In July, Schweitzer led his opponent 56% to 32%. The popular governor is now seeking his second term in office. This month, 58% rate his job performance as good or excellent, while 19% say he is doing a poor job. Brown served four terms in Montana’s House of Representatives before being elected to the state Senate last year. Schweitzer leads Brown 59% to 36% among unaffiliated voters. He also has a 61% to 34% advantage among women in Nebraska. Men are more evenly divided, favoring the incumbent by just a 50% to 48% margin. (Want a free daily e-mail update?
