Democrat Dominates Delaware Governor Race
Tuesday, October 14, 2008
Democratic State Treasurer Jack Markell leads Judge Bill Lee 62% to 34% in the first Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of the race for Delaware’s next governor. The two men are campaigning to replace Democratic Governor Ruth Ann Minner, who is constitutionally barred from running for a third term. Markell is serving his third term as the state treasurer. Lee, who served as a judge in the state’s superior court, lost the last gubernatorial election to Minner. Markell is dominant among unaffiliated voters, 57% to 35%. He also leads 59% to 36% among men and 65% to 33% among women. Rasmussen Markets data gives Markell has a % chance of winning Delaware's gubernatorial race next month. These results are updated on a 24/7 basis by market participants. It costs nothing to join and add your voice to the collective wisdom. The Democrat is viewed favorably by 67% of voters in Delaware and unfavorably by just 27%. Lee’s ratings are 52% favorable, 31% unfavorable. Minner earns good or excellent ratings from 22% of voters, while 36% give her job performance a poor rating. The latest poll of Delaware’s presidential election, which will be released today at 5 p.m., finds Barack Obama well ahead of John McCain.
