In his bid to become the next United States Senator from Colorado, Ken Salazar is currently attracting 49% support from voters in his state. A Rasmussen Reports survey of 500 Likely Voters finds that Republican Pete Coors has support from 45% of Colorado voters.

The candidates are campaigning for a seat currently held by popular Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell. Had Campbell run for re-election, this would have been a safe Republican seat. But, earlier in the year, Campbell announced his retirement while citing health reasons.

An earlier Rasmussen Reports survey, conducted shortly after Coors entered the race, showed Salazar with a 47% to 41% lead.

Currently, Salazar holds a 50% to 42% edge among women voters while men are evenly divided--48% for Coors and 47% for Salazar.

Colorado voters have the rarest of political choices before them--a choice between two candidates who are both viewed favorably throughout the state. Fifty-nine percent (59%) of voters have a favorable opinion of Salazar while 56% say the same about Coors.

In the race for the White House, Colorado is a Toss-Up.
