Despite the close race and memories from four years ago, 76% of voters expect we'll know who won sometime on election night. A Rasmussen Reports survey found that 14% expect it will take a few days to straighten things out while another 7% think it will take a week or more. Bush voters are more optimistic than Kerry voters about an early resolution of Election 2004. Eighty-two percent (82%) of Bush voters expect the winner to be known by the end of election night. Only 69% of Kerry voters share that view. At the other extreme, 27% of Kerry voters think we won't know the winner for at least several days (including 9% who think the legal battles and recounts will take a week or more). Among Bush voters, just 15% think it will take a few days or more (including 4% who expect a week long delay). The survey also found that 60% of voters are now worried about a Florida-style mess again this year. That's up from 58% a week ago and 44% earlier in the year. Forty-eight percent (48%) of Kerry voters are "very" worried about such a possibility along with 16% of Bush voters.
