Wisconsin Governor: Race Between Walker (R), Barrett (D) Gets Tighter

Republican Scott Walker now leads Democrat Tom Barrett by six points in the race to be Wisconsin’s next governor.

The latest Rasmussen Reports statewide telephone survey of Likely Voters shows Walker, the county executive of Milwaukee County, picking up 50% of the vote when leaners are included. Barrett, Milwaukee’s mayor, earns support from 44%. One percent (1%) prefer some other candidate, and four percent (4%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

This race moves back to Toss-Up from Leans GOP on the Rasmussen Reports Election 2010 Gubernatorial Scorecard. Two weeks ago, Walker led Barrett 51% to 43% after winning the state's Republican primary.

The survey of 750 Likely Voters in Wisconsin was conducted on September 29, 2010 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 4 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.
