Forty-nine percent (49%) of the nation’s Likely Voters say they trust Barack Obama more than John McCain when it comes to health care issue. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 39% trust McCain more on this topic.

Obama also has the edge over McCain when it comes to education. Forty-two percent (42%) trust Obama on that topic while 36% trust McCain.

McCain has the advantage when it comes to negotiating trade agreements. Fifty percent (50%) trust McCain to handle those discussions while 43% trust Obama. The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) has been a significant issue in the Democratic race, particularly in Ohio.

On two other issues, immigration and balancing the federal budget, voters are evenly divided between the candidates. Forty percent (40%) trust McCain more on immigration, 38% trust Obama. This issue haunted McCain during his battle to win the GOP nomination and just 56% of conservatives say they trust him more than Obama on this issue (18% trust Obama more and 26% express no preference).

When it comes to balancing the federal budget, 47% have more confidence in Obama while 46% say McCain.

A survey conducted last week found McCain was trusted more on the issues of National Security, Iraq, and the Economy. Obama was trusted more to reduce government corruption.

McCain currently holds a slight lead over Obama in the Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll.
