In Oregon, the latest Rasmussen Reports survey shows Senator Kerry with 47% of the vote and President Bush with 41%. Four years ago, Bush lost Oregon's 7 Electoral College votes to Al Gore by less than one percent of all votes cast. One month ago, Kerry held an eight-point lead, 50% to 42%. At that time, we moved Oregon from the "Toss-Up" category to "Leans Kerry." Two months ago, Bush was up by a single point, 46% to 45%. Not surprisingly, people who Strongly Approve of the President will vote for him by a 98% to 2% margin. At the same time 92% of those who Strongly Disapprove will vote for Kerry and none will vote to re-elect Bush. For the in-between ratings, 67% of those who Somewhat Approve of the President's job performance will vote for him. Fifty-eight percent (58%) of those who Somewhat Disapprove will vote for Kerry. In Oregon, 46% of all voters Approve of the way President Bush is performing his job. That's up a point from a month ago but down three points from the month before (and it's below his national Job Approval rating). Data for Oregon will be updated again early next month.
