Voters Are More Welcoming of Trump’s Hard Line on Iran
As tensions escalate with Iran over its nuclear weapons program, voters here are more supportive of President Trump’s get-tough attitude but are not optimistic that it will bring needed change.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 25% of Likely U.S. Voters still believe the president is too aggressive in his dealings with Iran, but that’s down from 36% a year ago just after he pulled the United States out of the controversial Iranian nuclear deal negotiated by President Obama. Just as many (26%) now say Trump’s not being aggressive enough, up from 14% last May. Thirty-eight percent (38%) rate the president’s response as about right. The survey of 1,000 Likely Voters was conducted on May 6-7, 2019 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC.
