Voters See Illegal Immigrants as a Strain on U.S. Budget

Voters tend to see illegal immigration in terms of its detriments to the country’s safety and financial bottom line.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 52% of Likely U.S. Voters think illegal immigrants are a significant strain on the U.S. budget. That’s in line with the 49% who felt the same way a year ago but down from 67% when Rasmussen Reports first asked this question in March 2010. Thirty-five percent (35%) do not think illegal immigrants are a budget strain, similar to findings from last year but up more than 10 points from 23% eight years ago. Another 14% are undecided.
