Pop diva Britney Spears and “The Simple Life” star Paris are both viewed unfavorably by 71% of American adults. Hilton, who was arrested for a DUI in September, is viewed favorably by a mere 12%, essentially unchanged from our previous survey. Spears is frequently criticized for her parenting skills and recently received bad press for showing off her private parts to the paparazzi. Only 13% have a favorable opinion of the “Oops I Did It Again” singer. The Rasmussen Reports survey of 1,000 adults reveals that some of Hollywood’s other troublesome women fare better in the ratings largely because they are not as well known. Hilton’s former best friend, Nicole Richie, is viewed favorably by just 14%. However, the daughter of ‘Three Times a Lady’ singer Lionel Richie, is unknown to more than a third of the nation. Richie, arrested for DUI and driving the wrong way on a California freeway in December, is viewed unfavorably by 49%.
Former Hole lead singer Courtney Love is also unloved by Americans who give her a 58% unfavorable rating. Love, wife of the late Kurt Cobain, is viewed favorably by only 16%. Men under 40 give the female superstars a slightly better favorable rating than older men. Crosstabs available for Premium Members only.
