29% Look Forward to Valentine’s Day, 22% Dread It

Monday, February 14, 2011

It happens every February 14, but still seems to catch many people by surprise.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just 29% of American Adults are looking forward to Valentine’s Day. Nearly as many, 22%, dread the day while 49% don’t have strong feelings one way or the other.

Men are evenly divided between dreading it and looking forward to it. Women have a somewhat more upbeat view. Those who are married look forward to it more than those who are not . Young adults look forward to the holiday more than their elders. (To see survey  question wording, click here.)
