Santa Will Find More Adults on His Nice List This Year

Thursday, December 16, 2010

Guess Americans have been a little nicer this year. More Adults think Santa will find them on his nice list this Christmas season compared to last year.

A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey finds that 82% of Americans say they’ll be on Santa’s nice list this year, up five points from a year ago. Just six percent (6%) think they’ll be on Santa's naughty list instead. Twelve percent (12%) aren’t sure which list they’re on. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

Last year, nine percent (9%) expected naughty treatment, while 14% were undecided.

It's important to note that our question did not define naughty or nice. It merely asked respondents where Santa Claus would find their names when he was making his list (and checking it twice).

The survey of 1,000 Adults was conducted on December 10-11, 2010 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.
