Most Will Be Home to Ring in the New Year

As 2010 turns to 2011 on Friday night, most adults plan to be home and wide awake.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 69% of Americans intend to be at home at midnight on New Year’s Eve. Seven percent (7%) will be at a friend’s house, while five percent (5%) will be at a restaurant or bar. Nine percent (9%) will be somewhere else, and 10% aren't sure where they'll be. Slightly more people are staying in this year compared to New Year’s Eve 2009.

Sixty percent (60%) of adults say they will be awake at midnight, while 28% plan on turning in earlier. Twelve percent (12%) cannot predict if they'll be up or not when the clock strikes midnight.

Americans seem to be a bit sleepier this year than last.
