Now that autumn is officially upon us, the top weekend activity for most Americans is simply a long walk outside. A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 67% of adults say it is likely they will take a long walk on a fall weekend, with 40% saying it is very likely. Coming in a close second are home improvement projects, with 61% of adults saying they are likely to start one on a weekend this season. A higher percentage of men (68%) than women (53%) say they will embark on a home project this fall (Premium Members can view full demographic crosstabs). (Want a free daily e-mail update? However, 43% say it is unlikely they will watch the sport on television. Again, men are much more likely than women to tune in. Sixty-nine percent (69%) of men say they are likely to watch football, including 52% who say it is very likely. Forty-two percent (42%) of women say they're likely to watch football on TV this fall, too. Despite this year’s concerns about the economy and gas prices, 46% of adults still say they are likely to take a long drive on a fall weekend, although 51% say it is unlikely. Married adults are much more likely than non-married adults to take a long drive on a weekend. The weekend activity that is least popular in the fall season is golfing. Just 13% of adults say they are likely to play golf in the fall, while 85% say it is unlikely -- and 60% say it is very unlikely. One in five men (21%) says they will probably visit a golf course, along with just six percent (6%) of women. See survey questions and toplines. Crosstabs available for Premium Members only.
