With only two weeks left until Christmas, 33% of Americans nationwide still haven’t begun their holiday shopping yet. The latest Rasmussen Reports survey shows that 22% have already finished leaving nearly half somewhere in the middle. Nine percent (9%) began their shopping within the last week and 11% finished. Not surprisingly, men have procrastinated more than women—38% of men have not yet bought their first gift along with 28% of women.. Only 12% say they’ll spend more on gifts this year than last while 62% plan to spend less. (Want a free daily e-mail update? Sign up now. If it's in the news, it's in our polls). More women under 40 (18%) are likely to spend more this year than women over 40 (8%). There is little generational difference among men. A separate survey conducted earlier this month showed that 66% are buying gifts for fewer people this year to concentrate on their families. When adults are shopping for their loved ones, most are buying specific gifts (62%) rather than to gift cards (12%). Today, 48% find holiday shopping is a fun experience, but 34% think it’s an unpleasant chore. That’s an improvement over last week. Women (53%) find shopping much more enjoyable than men (41%).
