Day of Thunder between Cruise and Paramount

Paramount Pictures will no longer be showing Tom Cruise any more money. The feature film organization and the Jerry Maguire star are officially separating in an unamicable split that the studio says is a result of Cruise’s off-screen behavior. This includes his crazy couch conduct on Oprah’s daytime talk show, public criticism over antidepressants and his incredibly public relationship with actress Katie Holmes. Like Paramount, most Americans have their doubts about Tom Cruise. A Rasmussen Reports survey conducted late last month found that 56% of Americans view the Top Gun star unfavorably. Just 11% have a very favorable opinion of him. Another 21% hold a somewhat favorable opinion. Mel Gibson is viewed much more favorably than Cruise, even after his recent brush with the law. Jennifer Aniston, Vince Vaughn and Brad Pitt also whipped Cruise in the court of public opinion. Surprisingly, men have a more favorable opinion of Cruise than women. Thirty-four percent (34%) of men favor the actor, compared to 28% of women. African Americans are more supportive of Cruise than Caucasians. Forty-four percent (44%) have a favorable opinion of The War of the Worlds actor, while only 30% of Caucasians view him favorably. Crosstabs are available for Premium Members only.
