September 3, 2004--A Rasmussen Reports survey found that 49% of voters trust George Bush more than John Kerry when it comes to managing the economy. Forty-five percent (45%) prefer Kerry. Last week, Bush was preferred by a 46% to 44% margin. Four weeks ago, following the Democratic National Convention, voters preferred Kerry 48% to 45%. Investors now prefer Bush over Kerry on the economy by a 49% to 46% margin. Non-Investors prefer Bush 48% to 44%. Investors react more quickly to economic news than non-Investors. They also represent a majority of the nation's voters (and a majority of voters who could still change their mind between now and November). Additional demographic information is available. A related survey found that 43% of Americans say that President Bush is doing a good or excellent job managing the economy. That survey will be updated on Wednesday. Voter preference for Bush over Kerry when it comes to the War on Terror and national defense remained positive for the President - 48% prefer Bush while 45% prefer Kerry. The national telephone survey of 1,000 Likely Voters was conducted by Rasmussen Reports over the last two nights. The margin of sampling error for the survey is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence.
