As the city of Boston prepares to welcome the Democratic Convention, Massachusetts voters prefer their home state Senator over President Bush by a 60% to 31% margin. Four years ago, without the home state advantage, Al Gore defeated Bush in Massachusetts 60% to 33%. A month ago, the Rasmussen Reports poll found Kerry ahead 58% to 33%. Massachusetts remains safely in the "Likely Kerry" category for our Electoral College projections. Kerry leads among all age groups in Massachusetts but has his biggest advantage among those over 50. Bush does best among thirty-somethings, but still trails by a double digit margin among that group. Just 37% of Massachusetts voters Approve of the way President Bush is performing his job. That's down a point from a month ago and well below his national Job Approval rating. Overall, 62% of Massachusetts voters disapprove of the President's job performance, including 48% who strongly disapprove. Data for Massachusetts will be updated again early next month. Our recent state releases included Alabama, Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, and Washington.
